Join the Advisory Committee
The MESTN Advisory Committee is a volunteer network of trail users, advocates, and civic service professionals committed to safer, healthier, and more connected communities across the Eastern Shore. Committee members inform and support the work of the MESTN Board of Directors through participation in quarterly meetings, held virtually or in person. The collective voices of these volunteers guide the Board on advocacy and volunteer opportunities within their regional network and focus MESTN’s resources and talent over a 12-month period.
The goal is to recruit 4–6 members from the Lower Shore, Mid-Shore, and Upper Shore areas for a total committee membership of approximately 20 members.
Advisory Committee members are recruited and appointed by the Board of Directors. Individuals may also self-nominate by completing the interest form below. The first virtual gathering of the MESTN Advisory Committee is set for Thursday, August 14, 4:00–5:15 p.m.
MESTN Support Pledge
As an individual committed to safer, healthier, and more connected communities across the Eastern Shore, I pledge to support the goals and work of the Maryland Eastern Shore Trail Network in my communities and with local and State Governments. I commit to the following principles and actions in good faith:
- Collaborate. Engage in regular, constructive coordination with MESTN and local partners to identify priorities, share data, and align projects that grow the number of trails on the Eastern Shore.
- Advance Equity. Prioritize trail projects and policies that remove barriers to mobility for historically underserved communities, older adults, youth, and people with disabilities.
- Share Data & Resources. Provide relevant, non-confidential data, technical expertise, funding guidance, or staff time where feasible to help move projects from concept to implementation.
- Public Advocacy. Where appropriate, publicly support efforts—grant applications, public meetings, and funding requests—that advance safe, connected active-transportation networks across the region.
- Measure & Report. Help establish transparent performance measures and share progress updates so the community can track safety outcomes and system improvements.
By signing below, our organization expresses its intent to partner with MESTN to build more trails, and healthier, connected communities.
